Kishu Charcoal: Plastic-Free Water Filter

0

I have been wanting to go plastic-free with our dishes and glasses for a while. I’ve thrown out the girls’ childish plastic plates (the now use our “adult” ceramic plates) and their plastic glasses (replaced with glass tumblers from One Kings Lane).  The last thing we wanted to do was to have a plastic free water filter. We’ve used a plastic filter for a very, very long time now and it was something that I just haven’t had a chance to change. When The Hubby and I were out for a date, we ate at this restaurant in TriBeCa that…

Product Review: Stonyfield Greek Yogurt

2

Yogurt is a staple in our family’s fridge, especially Stonyfield Greek yogurt.  Stonyfield brand yogurts are my brand of choice when food shopping because they are USDA organic, which is something I try to provide for my family: organic dairy products. They completely obsess over everything they put into their organic yogurt, frozen yogurt and smoothies (my girls’ favorite!) There aren’t any toxic persistent pesticides, artificial hormones, antibiotics and GMOs We eat yogurt anytime during the day — in fact here is when we eat yogurt: 1. For a quick, healthy breakfast; 2. As a great side-snack in the girls’ school lunch;…

At the recent Momtrends Holiday Event, Marie Ackerman, Vice-President of Education at Teleflora — the online florist where fresh flowers are hand-delivered daily — talked to us about holiday decorating tips and the latest decorating trends. (And a…

#LearnwithHomer Back-to-School Twitter Party {PRIZES!}

2

During the summer, the focus for the girls is to be active, make new friends, learn new sports and travel. The one thing that doesn’t change is reading. Every night before the girls go to sleep, each of them have at least a half hour of reading, by themselves, with a grown-up or a combination of the two. We want to make sure that they don’t fall in to the “Summer Slide”, which is when children who do not read over the summer, lose more than two months of reading achievement. If you’re preparing to send someone back to school,…

{CLOSED} A Family Portrait Session with Jane Goodrich {Giveaway!}

20

It’s been a while since we have had a family portrait session, especially one in our apartment in New York City. I am not one for “studio portraits” because I like the more casual nature of outdoor or on-location photos. I am so glad that I was introduced to Jane Goodrich Photography, who graciously offered us a complimentary family portrait session this past winter. {And you’ll have an opportunity to win a family portrait session with her, too!} Jane was of course professional, but more important, she was FANTASTIC with the girls. In fact, she got along so well them that…

This past week, Nicole Feliciano of Momtrends invited me a several other influencers to watch a screening of the film, What Maisie Knew, directed by Scott McGhee and David Siegel; starring Julianne Moore, Alexander Skarsgard and featuring the young and amazing Onata Aprile, who plays Maisie. The film is based on of the Henry James novel, What Maisie Knew, first published in 1897. The film is set in modern times in downtown New York City. The story revolves around a bitter custody battle between Susanna, an aging rock star played convincingly by Moore, and her art-dealer husband, Beale, played by…

Arbonne RE9 Advanced Moisture Set Review and Interview with an Arbonne Consultant

1

I love beauty products — especially those that promote healthy skin care. My friend, college buddy and sorority Little Sister — yes, I was in a sorority! — Minal, introduced me to Arbonne products when she became an independent consultant several years ago. Along with being a consultant, she is an occupational therapist and a mom of two very active boys. I actually tried the Arbonne products several years ago when Minal had started and it felt too heavy on my skin, however, this past spring, Minal was very excited for me to try the Arbonne RE9 Advanced Moisture Set (below),…
