Tips on Navigating the NYC High School Process

0

So, I haven’t written in a long time and that’s because we’ve got school on the brain. Between the school year starting, me being in school part-time and our newly-minted teenager going through the NYC public high school application process, my time has been very limited. Make sure to scroll down for the discount code for High School 411, a service that helps NYC parents navigate the public high school admissions process! Having said that, we are finally done with the process: 16 tours, 3 separate tests, months of tutoring sessions. I’m not an expert, but having gone through all…

American Girl Debuts WellieWishers for Younger Girls

2

Meet American Girl’s new line of five characters, called the WellieWishers: Ashlyn, Camille, Emerson, Kendall and Willa. This new line is created for the younger girls, ages 5 to 7 years old as they develop social and emotional skills like empathy, compassion and thoughfulness. The WellieWishers also have early chapter books (sold separately) that teach life lessons on sharing, cooperation, respecting feelings and just being a good friend. I attended an event as media and received a WellieWishers doll and book for my attendance. The WellieWishers dolls are 14.5″ tall and retail only $60 (versus the 18″ and $100+ price…

My New Life as a Working Mom, Wife and Student

0

Since I started this new journey of going back to school, my days and weeks have been so different and fractured, but I try to keep somewhat of a schedule for my sanity and my family’s. I start out my week still working as Chief Kidfresh Mom, doing their marketing at Kidfresh HQ here in New York City, still wanting to keep the social media/marketing so-called pilot light on while I work on the next twenty years of my career. Understanding how marketing, social media and web marketing is important — no matter what industry, I know that my twenty…

Changes: My Road Back to School

2

I initially started this blog back in 2009, when I took a social media class when I was a candidate for a Master’s of Science in Integrated Marketing at New York University. It was one of our social media projects and loved how engaging and “new” this whole blogging business was. My blog was originally called “Diaper District” because at the time, I was a mom of two very young kids in Lower Manhattan. A few years later, I changed the name to Triple Threat Mommy because it described what I was: a triple threat — a mom and wife, a…

World Elephant Day

2

Did you know that World Elephant Day is August 12? The Wildlife Conservation Society’s 96 Elephants campaign focuses on protecting forest elephants from extinction, through awareness and legislation. More than 35,000 elephants are killed by poachers each year for their ivory and the goal of 96 Elephants is to stop the killing, demand and trafficking of elephant ivory. Last weekend, President Obama announced his administration’s proposal to ban ivory sales in the United States. The public has 60 days to comment on the bill and then the administration can make changes. We don’t want the bill to become less effective as a result, so we need…

How to Pack for Sleepaway Camp

1

Like I said in my Disney and American Girl doll post, our kids are usually late to big milestones. For both Disney and American Girl store visits, my girls were 11- and 7-years old. Middle-aged for youngsters who go every year since they were born. Well, sleepaway camp is something that the girls (specifically my oldest) is going to be experiencing for the first time this summer, when most of her friends had been going for the past three to four years. I learned a lot in four crazy days of packing. This post contains affiliate links. I’m not going to…

We have two girls, a 6th grader and 2nd grader and last year was our first time at Disney World.
