Easy Way to Help the Victims in Haiti

0

Just in from the NYTimes, an extremely easy way to donate $10 to the Red Cross – using your cell phone.  Text Haiti to the number 90999 and $10 will be donated to the American Red Cross.  The cost will be added to your phone bill.  The company that handles the texted donations, mGive, is waiving all the technological, software and licensing fees that they usually charge for each donation.  $1.2 million dollars have been raised so far, especially with the message being shouted across Facebook and Twitter. Pick up your cell. It literally took less than 1 minute.

Indoor Swimming at the Downtown Community Center in Tribeca

0

We love being downtown so much.  There is always something to do: from playing in an empty Washington Market Park because it’s 26 degrees out, to enjoying the BEST cup of coffee and toasted bagel with cream cheese at Jack’s Stir Brew to a nice, warm dip in the pool at the Downtown Community Center.  That’s right, even in the frigid weather we’ve been having, we all trekked with our ice skating gear AND our swimming gear. The Downtown Community Center has Family Swim time, which is perfect for families with babies to the tweens: Monday – Friday from 7-8:30…

Whole Foods Tribeca Coupons

0

I think that Whole Foods Tribeca is a great place to go food shopping.  I just know that they have a well-edited stock of fresh produce, seafoods, meats and grocery products.  Going to Whole Foods helps me not have to think if the package of graham crackers that I just put in the cart has hydrogenated oils or not.  One less thing to think about for this Triple Threat Mommy. You can, however, pay a premium for the high quality, natural and organic products that Whole Foods offers, but they do give you a break. I just checked out their…

More Tips on Ice Skating in Battery Park City at Battery Park City Ice

1

We  loved ice skating in Battery Park City so much that we went back again this past Sunday.  Now that we sort of know what we are doing, we thought we’d pass on some tips: Easiest Way to Get There: Go to Chambers Street or Murray Street, walk west and cross the West Side Highway.  If you enter on Murray make a right towards the big white tent; if you enter via Chambers street, make a left towards the big white tent.  Entrance is right in the middle of the ball field on the West Side Highway. Cost: $10 for…

Obama’s Weatherproof Ad in Times Square

0

My boss’ office overlooks the looming picture of President Barack Obama and we’ve been perplexed all week as to whether or not President Obama really did in fact endorse Weatherproof.  We were asking why we didn’t think of it considering Michelle Obama has been photographed wearing Liz Claiborne New York a few months ago.  Being marketers, we questioned the legitimacy of the ad, but hey, people are talking about Weatherproof, and that’s the end goal of marketing, right? I wouldn’t be sitting here at 8:45 at night writing about Weatherproof, even linking to their site, if it wasn’t for that…

My 2010 New Year’s Resolution: Being in the Present

0

Here it is, it’s 2010, and it’s time for everyone to write down, confess, or talk about their resolutions and possibly break them within the next month or so.  For me, instead of losing those last 6 lbs, eating healthier, or going to the gym more often, I have resolved to Be In The Present. The Hubby read me this quote: In dwelling, live close to the ground. In thinking, keep to the simple. In conflict, be fair and generous. In governing, don’t try to control. In work, do what you enjoy. In family life, be completely present. Tao Te…

Ice Skating in Battery Park City!

0

Our six year old and I just went today to the ice skating rink in Battery Park City and we had a blast!  What a great way to actually enjoy today’s cold weather. For $12 each, we were able to skate for an unlimited amount of time and rent pretty new skates and for an additional well-spent $3, we were able to rent a helmet.  The facilities weren’t grand but were exceptional.  There are a bunch of benches to sit on while putting on your skates and a snack bar where you can warm up with a cup of hot…

You are a Triple Threat Mommy

2

So I got a new blog because I wanted this to be more about my experiences about being a working, downtown NYC , mommy who is also a separate person — sometimes — when I don’t have another little six or two year old tugging at my leg. I want to celebrate all the working moms out there who are doing it “all” (and that can differ for each of us: from day to day, hour to hour). Sometimes, I am just glad that I was able to make it home on time to see our two girls for 10…
