There were inspiring speakers who had great tips for travelers, whether you’re going solo or traveling with a brood. Angel Orensanz Foundation for Contemporary Art  {AND THE BEST PART?! Traveling Beauty Essentials

0

We’ve done so many family trips lately that packing up my traveling beauty essentials has pretty much become routine. I normally don’t have a long beauty process: I like to wash and moisturize my face, and then put on the basics: mascara, eyeliner, blush, lip gloss. When I travel, I also pack some things for “just in case”. All of the products shown can be packed in a gallon sized ziplock bag which can be easily lifted in and out of your bag when you go through security.  Note that this post contains affiliate links. Here’s my top 16 Traveling…

Our Close-Up Look of the Winter Olympics

2

Our family is very excited to watch the Winter Olympics this year more so than other years. First of all, our daughters have become winter sports lover themselves. We’ve gone on several ski trips, most recently to the ski resorts around the Salt Lake City area. During that trip, our family was lucky enough to get VIP passes to the Olympic Qualifiers for the Nordic and Ski Jumping events, where spots for the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia will be fought for. What was so exciting was that for the first time Women’s ski jumping will make its Olympic Trials debut…

8 Things to Know About Norwegian GETAWAY Cruise

0

Growing up, I never went on cruises with my family. A cruise, to me, was a vacation that my grandparents took. So, for us as a family, a cruise is not top-of-mind; it was the type of vacation that we just never considered. (We had similar feelings about those all-inclusive family vacation, and boy did our opinions completely change — we are going to our second all-inclusive family vacation this year.) When The Moms, Denise Albert and Melissa Musen Gerstein invited me and my family to get a behind-the-scenes look of the Norwegian GETAWAY Cruse, we had to go and…

Family Skiing in Utah {Video!}

5

It’s the heart of winter, which means there are three more school vacations (President’s Day, Winter Break and Spring Break) that are ski-worthy. This past December, we spent our holiday skiing at two great family ski-only mountains in Utah. We are big fans of Home Exchange and exchanged with a Salt Lake City family over the Christmas holiday. We exchanged our New York City apartment and our unlimited Metrocards for their 4-bedroom home and use of their car. (More on our winter Home Exchange experience at a later post!). We had a FABULOUS time in Salt Lake City – and…

Family Travel and Skiing In-and-Around Salt Lake City, Utah

1

For the holiday season, we’ve decided to go do another Home Exchange, this time to Salt Lake City, Utah. We’ve done a few successful Home Exchanges, like to Paris and to Washington, D.C.  and this time, we wanted to go out west for a ski vacation. Since skiing can be quite expensive, we thought it would be a great idea to do an exchange to offset the cost of flying and skiing. Beaches Resorts Celebrates 10 Years with Sesame Workshop and Major Upgrades

0

After traveling to Beaches Resorts this past summer, our family has become BIG fans. Big enough that before we left our vacation, I had booked our 2014 trip to Beaches Turks and Caicos! So it is with great pleasure to help spread the word that Beaches is celebrating ten years of ‘sunny days’ in partnership with Sesame Workshop®, the nonprofit educational organization behind Sesame Street. With the anniversary, Beaches Resorts announces five new and exciting activities to the Beaches Resorts Caribbean Adventure with Sesame Street® program. The collage above is from our recnet trip to Beaches Turks & Caicos. Yyou can see…

Review of Beaches Turks and Caicos Family Resort

9

I won accomodations to Beaches Turks and Caicos by blogging about Trumpeting Media’s Rest and Relaxation Suite last year. Airfare was paid for by my family. All opinions expressed are mine. Now that the school year started, that means that it’s time to plan your family vacations around your school holidays. It’s always good to plan early so that you can get the best airfare and price possible. After writing about how I’ve been dreaming about a trip to a Beaches Family Resort, to my pleasant surprise, our family won a four-day, three-night trip to any Beaches Resort. We decided to…

Family Vacation at the Jersey Shore

1

I was not monetarily compensated for this post. GM did provide us a car for our trip. All opinions expressed are always mine. As the one-year anniversary of Hurricane Sandy approaches us and we are reminded once again how Hurricane Sandy wrecked havoc on New York City, Staten Island and the Jersey Shore, my husband and I also remember the vow we took last November:  The summer of 2014 was not going to be any different from our past summer vacations. We were going to have a family vacation at the Jersey Shore no matter what. So this past March,…

Going Down the Jersey Shore Post-Hurricane Sandy

1

When Hurricane Sandy ravaged the northeast, specifically our hometown of NYC and our beloved vacation spot, the Jersey Shore, we made it a point to say, “We’re definitely going ‘down the shore’ next year for our summer vacation.” And this past March, I booked our house down in Lavallette, New Jersey, in the same community that we have rented from the past six years. I’m a Jersey Girl: I went down the shore with my girlfriends when we were in high school; we did the Seaside thing post-prom, and when our oldest daughter was about 3 years old, we started coming back down…

Six Tips for Traveling to Hershey Park with the Family

12

Earlier this summer, we took a family trip to Hershey Park. This is our third year going to Hershey, simply because we love going to Hershey Park! If you are traveling to Hershey Park this summer, read my six tips for a fun family trip to the Chocolate Capital of the World! 1. If you can swing it, rent a Waterfront Cabana on the Boardwalk . A Hershey Park Cabana is part of their VIP experience, and costs $250 per day on top of the park tickets, but it makes your stay so much happier. You get your own 12×12 cabana that has…

Summer Road Trip Essentials

3

This is a sponsored post by Johnson & Johnson and  Momtrends. As always, all opinions are my own.  It’s July 4th Week and ’tis the season for the Great American Family Summer Road Trip. This past weekend, we kicked off the end of the girls’ school year and the start of the summer with a road trip to one of our favorite places, Hershey Park, in Hershey, Pennsylvania. From our place in New York City, it takes about 3-hours and is a very pleasant trip through New Jersey and Pennsylvania. We only go for the weekend, but boy, do we…
