Growing up in the suburbs of New Jersey, I grew up in a well-run home. My mom taught me how to shine the silver and polish the wood. Also, every six months, she changed the bedding and window treatments to suit the season, so we had a winter look and a spring look. My mom was a bit like Sandra Lee from “Semi-Homemade” where her set changes depending on the season or the holiday.

Suffice it to say, in my New York City apartment I do not change either our family’s bedding or our window treatments - no matter what season. Until recently, my girls had only one set of bedding (I know, egads!). I would wash them, then promptly re-make their beds with the freshly laundered sheets.

My mom would be happy to know that our girls now have a second set of bedding. I’m thinking for the Fall, I’ll be getting the Garden Party bedding so that we can change the look of their room…my mom would be so proud!
