With the holidays coming up and a handful of school breaks not too far after, I am always looking for stylish, travel-friendly and packable styles. I recently went to the J.McLaughlin Spring 2015 Preview and found the most amazing fabric: J.McLaughlin’s Catalina Cloth ™. With our Curaçao trip coming up, I knew that it would be perfect to pack up some of the styles in our suitcase! Thank you to J.McLaughlin for providing me these beautiful Catalina Cloth™ styles for our family trip to Curacao!
J.McLaughlin’s Catalina Cloth ™ is a silky, knit jersey fabric with a bit of stretch and the colors and prints in the collection were just perfect for our trip to Curaçao. Simply put, the Catalina Cloth ™ was meant for traveling. I put the styles I received to the test and literally threw them into our suitcase, surrounded my whole family’s clothes (we are a one-suitcase kind of family), shoes and accessories. I opened up the suitcase after our 5 1/2 hour flight to Curaçao, and all three styles were 100% wrinkle-free!
How I Wore J.McLaughlin’s Catalina Cloth ™ Style:
I wore the Charlotte Maxi Dress out for dinner, belted and with dressy flats to walk around Curaçao’s capital, Willemstad. The bright colors in the maxi dress were just perfect against the colorful backdrop of Willemstad’s architecture. The dress was cool and easy and a perfect match for a beach holiday.
A beach vacation always calls for blue and white stripes, and the Sardinia top went perfectly with crisp white shorts and as a mom, I appreciated the fact that the Catalina Cloth ™ repels stains. At dinner, I had gotten some sauce on it and I easily wiped off the stain with a wet napkin and it looked good as new!
It’s hard to find stylish poolside styles that can stand up to getting splashed by a bunch of kids. J.McLaughlin’s Newport short fit the bill: it was comfy to wear over bathing suits and quick to dry when wet. It really was a miracle fabric by the pool or beach because if it got wet, it quickly dried up, so you always had a cover-up ready for when you had to go into the beach-side restaurant. I like that you can dress up the shorts, too, by pairing it up with a crisp white shirt or tank.
Not going away? There’s still time to shop the J.McLaughlin Gift Guide:
You may not be going away this holiday, but there’s still time to shop J.McLaughlin’s fab gift guide. There’s something for every price point so you’ll be able to find something for him, her, or if you can’t make up your mind, there’s always the J.McLaughlin giftcard!
You would be a super star if you got your loved one the Kelly Quilted Clutch (top picture: $198). It’s timeless and classic, just like it’s namesake, Grace Kelly. Get it for her early so she can wear it to all the holiday cocktail parties that you’ll be taking her to! She can also wear it two ways: like a clutch, or take out the gold-tone strap and wear it over the shoulder.
Scarves are always an easy, and in this case, beautiful gift to give. J.McLaughlin does it right with these Reversible Cashmere Shawls (bottom right: $278) that she can wear dress up with her LBD this season or dress down with her a white button-down and jeans.
One can never have enough hats, gloves and scarves, especially when they are Lambswool blend infinity scarves, gloves and hats (bottom left: $48-$88). Classic, goes-with-anything and everyone will love the high-quality and attention to details: beautiful waffle knits, leather fingertips for the gloves, and classic cable knits.
Which one would you want to find with your name on it for the holidays?
