Fashion’s Night Out at by Joy Gryson in Tribeca

It was a local, family affair for me at last week’s Fashion’s Night Out. I took O as my date and we supported downtown Mom and handbag designer Joy Gryson at the opening of her new store by Joy Gryson located on Franklin Street in TriBeCa.

Joy Gryson has three different lines in her store, all based in amazing leather. Gryson, Olivia Harris, and IIIBeCa. Gryson is her luxury brand of accessories; Olivia Harris is a more contemporary line and a little “grittier” and a bit more rock and roll than Gryson.

My favorite line is the IIIBeCa Collection which is hand crafted with supple vegetable tanned leathers. They are modern and streamlined but they also are what I call Fashion with a Purpose. Three percent of IIIBeCa’s net proceeds are donated to the following III charities (for a total of 9%!):  9/11 Memorial, Family Focus Adoption Services, and Memorial Sloan-Kettering — all organizations near and dear to Joy Gryson and her family’s hearts.

It’s a family affair with pictures of Joy and her daughter throughout the by Joy Gryson store.

Joy kept everything within the downtown TriBeCa family:  yummy pies and homemade pink lemonade (both the adult- and kid-friendly versions) came from Bubby’s Tribeca; and mani’s were supplied by the team from Sweet Lily and Zoya nail polish.

My handbag pick for this fall? The Duane Street Messenger bag which I have yet to take off since last Thursday.

What I like about it is that it practically goes with everything and can be worn anywhere:  from drop-off in the morning, to a blogger brunch to a fashion show and then to Date Night. I. Am. Never. Taking. It. Off.
