The Hub TV Premiere Playdate with Melissa Joan Hart

This past Saturday, the family and I went to the The Hub TV Premiere Playdate featuring “My Little Pony Friendship is Magic” and “The Littlest Pet Shop“. Actress Melissa Joan Hart (“Melissa & Joey,” “Sabrina, The Teenage Witch”) hosted the playdate which was sponsored by Time Out NY Kids, SheKnows.com, The MOMS, and Fresh 102.7 FM.

This was probably the largest playdate that we’ve been to. Complete with popcorn, juice-boxes, games, and the big screen.

The family and I walked the purple carpet and headed into the theatre for a sneak peek of the season premiere of the animated series “My Little Pony Friendship is Magic,” and the World Premiere of the animated series “Littlest Pet Shop”. We have never watched either show, but were pleasantly surprised. “My Little Pony Friendship is Magic” was perfect for our 5-year old, who is a fan of the My Little Pony toys. The shows themes centered around the importance of friendship and how good always triumphs over evil. The Hubby and I thought that “Littlest Pet Shop” was perfect for our 9-year old because the main character, Blythe, is a tween living in an apartment in a large, bustling city — a character that she can relate to.

I, along with other online influencers, spoke with Melissa Joan Hart about how she balances work and being a mommy, just like all of us! Check out our mini-interview below:

@TripleThreatMom: How do you keep a marriage successful with such a busy schedule?
Melissa Joan Hart:  There are hills and valleys and you have to get to the valleys to get to the hills. So, I feel like it’s a matter of sticking through it when it gets tough and making sure that there’s a lot of communication.
@MacKidSuze: How do you balance now that you have a new show that you are on, work and mommyhood?
MJH:  It’s been tough, and with three [kids] now, its gonna be even tougher. It’s going to be hard because [I’m] breast-feeding. For the last two to three seasons, I left and went to California and left [the kids] here with Daddy because I wanted them to have a normal life….they are older now, they are going to school, I wanted them to sleep in their own beds. But, I was so miserable being away from them. But now, this season, because of the new baby, Tucker, we are all going to go together [to California] and we are going to stay. It’ll be hard because we’re going to pull the kids out of school, find a new school and try to find new hobbies for them.
Although she’ll be working hard, at least she’ll be with her husband and kids!
Besides media and online influencers, hundreds of local kids and families  from the storm-impacted communities of Belle Harbor, Breezy Point and Coney Island, attended with coordination with the New York City Department of Education. The Hub TV Network is making a special donation to The American Red Cross and The Salvation Army, which are assisting those impacted by the Hurricane Sandy disaster.
